Artist's Statement

I began sculpting in 2001 to satisfy the continual screams coming from my right brain, while working in a left brain world. Its sheer desire to be heard could no longer be ignored. To satisfy the nagging persistence I found my way back to art, a childhood interest.

Sculpting was my first artistic choice, so I found a local sculptor to give me a couple of private lessons. Inspired, I took several workshops at the Loveland Art Academy in Loveland, Colorado and the artistic journey began.

In 2004, I changed directions and began painting. On canvas, I scribble random narrative while making conversation with shape, color and technique, plowing or quietly stepping through color fields to reveal their own conclusions.

I am considered an outsider artist from the stand point that I have not been formally trained, basically self-taught, and create outside of the mainstream art world. My artistic training is largely based in observation that is materialized in an expressionistic approach.

I move from minimalism to graphic abstractions or linger in raw process. Currently, I am working with oil paint and cold wax. Not claiming a particular style, I consider myself an explorer seeking new territory and self discovery on a very personal journey.
